Holistic Healing is a wholesome form of healing. The healing of one’s internal and external being as a whole, and not in detached parts, as well as one’s environment. The cause and effect. To treat an adverse health condition for example, one must analyze the whole and detect the cause of the problem, rather than treat the symptoms or only one part of the body as is common nowadays. When all the aspects are aligned, energy flows in balance and harmony, and the body functions normally and healthily. These parts include the mind, body, heart, and soul.

Just as we are surrounded by an energetic field from the air that surrounds us, we also generate our own energy from within. Therefore, we have to develop mindfulness in order to eliminate any negativity that may block its path, such as thoughts, feelings, and interactions. When the flow is weakened or disrupted, emotional and physical problems arise.

There are various causes for these imbalances: disturbing emotions, negative thought patterns, or an unhealthy lifestyle. Holistic Healing promotes decongestion and harmony. It may require guidance and direction initially, but eventually, everyone can safely practice it from the comfort of their own home. It restores a balanced state of health on the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual levels. That is why it is important to select the right place for comfort and solitude right from the beginning. It will eventually become a regular ‘holy’ spot to practice this healing, leading to self-control, insight, lucid perception, and visualization.

  1. THE MIND

The mind is the Governor of the body. Taking control of it requires an immersed self-awareness. This heightened mindfulness is best described in French, as Presence d’Esprit- a wholesome presence.

1.1 Thoughts are triggered through stimuli. If they are allowed to form passively, they automatically react to every impulse however unimportant, clouding the mind or even generating wrong thought patterns. Mindfulness holds them in check, observing their recurrence, and analyzing their importance, to promptly abandon the mundane or prioritize the important ones.

1.2 The energy of these patterns form involuntary reactions and attitudes. These reactions could be offensive or defensive, depending on our positive or negative thoughts. If they are predictable, they make us easy targets for others, and victims of our own circumstances.

Acute attitudes of rejection or attachment whether to people or objects indicate emotional stress, trauma, or instability. Addiction, for example, is a negative form of attachment.

1.3 Convictions subconsciously influence thoughts and reactions. They are either created through nurture, religion, community, or a combination of any of them. Life’s experiences modify them over the long term, but their rooted residues are an impediment. That is why, education and exposure create more objectivity. Undoubtedly, the positive side of convictions is in ethical and social discipline. Spirituality is essential in providing purpose and values.

2. THE BODY

“A healthy mind is in a healthy body.” You know best how healthy your mind is through your body. The mind is in constant communication with the body through Biofeedback. This mind-body technique enables taking charge of the body functions. It is the procedure of “listening” to our bodies. It starts through a conscientious breathing pattern that brings the heart rate under control while being attentive to any irregular signs.

Following that, we can identify our Circadian Rhythm, which is the body’s “biological clock”. This may vary according to age or external conditioning such as light. It is determined through the changes in our physical, mental, and behavioral patterns over a 24-hour cycle. It affects our body temperature, eating and sleeping habits, and the release of various hormones.

2.1 Habits are conscious or unconscious. Mindfulness is the key to identifying them and then analyzing their cause and effect. Have we unconsciously acquired such habits through our parents, partners, community, or through nurture? Or are they from infancy through nature? What is their effect on our living habits and lifestyle? Do they have a positive or negative impact on our lives?

2.2 Addictions come in various overt and covert forms. They are usually in response to stress, anxiety, or trauma. The covert addictions could be binging, pornography, drugs, being glued to the TV for hours on end to escape our reality, taking ‘recreational drugs’, etc. — that which is not necessarily public. The overt addictions could be alcohol, gambling, obsessive/compulsive sex drives, etc.

2.3 Health: if there are 2 things all the money in the world cannot buy, they are health and age (life). They are 2 sides of the same coin. We can extend life through good health and a healthy lifestyle which involves eating habits and extracurricular activities.

The quality of our food is far more important than the quantity or its frequency. The secret is diversity in quality as evidenced by the Mediterranean diet. Not eating our full per meal is far healthier, as proven through the eating habits of the Okinawans in Japan who live very long lives. In addition, maintaining an eating routine is excellent for regulating our Circadian Rhythm. Not eating at all, due to a lack of appetite is better than eating to follow a set routine. Yet, when hungry and unable to eat on time, it is best to have a quick but selective snack, nuts instead of biscuits, for example. Above all, the African Method of chewing properly and eating at a calm pace is the best.

All this is well, but without any activity, there is an imbalance. Ingesting quality food in reasonable quantities and within a certain routine requires burning those calories to assimilate the nutrients through the body, stimulate the immunity system, and eliminate waste. This can be done through sports, or outdoor activities, integrated into a daily routine. Adhering to it maintains a perfect balance for the heart, body, and mind.

Another activity is practicing a particular creative hobby we enjoy. It is important to note that incorporating aromatherapy and music with any of those extracurricular activities is also stimulating and has a soothing effect.

3. HEART & SOUL

The soul is the seat of the heart and the heart is the seat of our feelings and emotions. They are all interlinked. The great Leonardo da Vinci once said: “Tears come from the heart and not the mind”. In fact, the latest research indicates that the heart may send more signals to the brain than the other way around.

Studies have also shown that anger increases the risk of heart attack by 230%. Needless to say, an anguished heart or soul may even lead to the development of cancer in the body. It is called the “silent killer’ in certain countries because it only appears after an incubation period of about 20 years, and it is related to heartache and subdued anguish.

Any nagging trauma or nurtured anger triggers: cardiovascular congestion, hormonal imbalances, and immune system dysfunction. These nefarious effects justify the indispensable importance of a holistic lifestyle and a balanced approach. One can adopt meditation which may initially require some guidance.

3.1 The first step in Holistic Healing therapy is a temporary withdrawal into silence and comfort and a progressive detachment of all the senses from our surroundings, through meditation or prayerful contemplation.

3.2 The next step will be profound and rhythmical breathing, extending it with every cycle while focusing on your Divine Entity. Humming with every exhalation while your eyes are calmly shut, provides more breathing control. Visualizing the release of every negativity with every humming exhalation provides wholesome energy into your inhalation. Pay attention to your heartbeat slowing down as you observe the release of every tension from every limb through all the extremities of your body.

3.3 Visualize your desired manifestations with every inhalation. If any thought crosses your mind, “hold” it in check, analyze it, discard it, or visualize the ideal solution, returning to your manifestation in all its details. “Paste” your visualizations onto your mental “clipboard” for elaboration the following day.

Before concluding, create and declare your affirmations out loud, reinforcing your visualizations. Likewise, paste them on your clipboard, to add more the following day.

In this isolated “bubble”, the sky is the limit. You will soon realize the benefits of this practice on your path to Holistic Healing and you will singlehandedly develop your own bespoke method, making it your daily routine. It will not be unusual, to extend the duration of your daily meditations as you gain confidence and feel healthier and more fulfilled.

Be good to yourself, your body, heart, and mind, and do your best to:

- Will it and act upon it, developing your daily discipline.

- Believe in something (not someone) to exercise your soul. It will fortify your Will and become your moral compass.

- Love your pet and take it outdoors. Exercise it which is also good for you.

- Seek peace and serenity.

- Do whatever makes you happy and fulfilled.

- Develop an exercise, cooking, or music routine daily, however briefly.

- Engage in hobbies you enjoy or social welfare.

- Detach yourself from negativity as much as possible.

- Keep away from people who are negative and suck on your energy- even within the family.

- Distract yourself away from negative conversations that deplete your mind.

- Do not allow yourself to be locked indoors for too long, it suffocates.

- Research subjects of interest, unknown words, or other subjects. Keep learning, strengthening the mind’s ‘muscles.’

Above all, focus on your “love hormone” Oxytocin, which

positively lowers your adrenaline (anxiety) and cortisol

(anger and anxiety) levels. Just love yourself first to be able

to love others- even your pet!
